In December Mario Bonaccorso, Director of SPRING, presented the BioINSouth project during a workshop hosted by the ShapingBio project at the PitchPerfect event in Brussels. The workshop aimed to influence how future bioeconomy policies are shaped, and BioINSouth is backing up this great effort!
Coordinated by SPRING – Italian Circular Bioeconomy Cluster, BioINSouth aims to support decision-makers in integrating considerations of ecological limits into regional bioeconomy strategies, focusing on circular bio-based activities.

The upcoming 1st BioINSouth Forum in Catania, organised by the coordinator of BioINSouth project, SPRING – Italian Circular Bioeconomy Cluster, promises to be a dynamic and engaging event, bringing together leaders and experts from various disciplines from the biobased sector and beyond. The agenda includes insightful keynote speeches on the bioeconomy, discussions on regional initiatives shaping the circular bioeconomy, and round tables focusing on the role of regions and policy-makers in implementing sustainable and eco-conscious practices.
The preliminary agenda involves sessions dedicated to:
- The bioeconomy from G20 to COP29
- The role of Regions in implementing the circular bioeconomy in Southern Europe
- The circular bioeconomy to reconcile economy, society and environment
Participants from diverse countries and fields will share their insights, making the 1st BioINSouth Forum a must-attend for anyone interested in the future of sustainable development!

At IFIB 2024, the Bioeconomy Marketplace side-event organised by our linked projects BIOMODEL4REGIONS and RuralBioUp, featured a presentation of the BioINSouth objectives, concept and impact in EU regional level.
The presentation by María García Alegre our WP2 Leader (Technological Corparation of Andalusia, CTA), highlighted the collaborative spirit and dedication to a sustainable future, leaving a lasting impression on all attendees.

BioINSouth focuses on developing practical guidelines and digital tools to assess environmental impacts, fostering circular bio-based activities, and enhancing regional competitiveness and innovation. By establishing regional HUBs and engaging a diverse array of stakeholders, BioINSouth is seeking to drive sustainable development and contribute to the EU’s fair and green transition.

🌍BioINSouth led by SPRING – Italian Circular Bioeconomy Cluster, has officially launched the Multi-Actor Regional Group (MARG) for Campania region! 🎉
The MARG acts as an advisory body, providing strategic guidance and sharing valuable expertise. By offering insights and feedback on project outcomes, its members play a pivotal role in shaping the region’s bioeconomy strategy.
BioINSouth project aims to support decision-makers to incorporate considerations of ecological limits into regional planning and development strategies for a sustainable bioeconomy. The project focuses on Mediterranean European regions, including Portugal, Spain, France, Cyprus, Greece, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, and Italy, with additional collaborations in Turkey and Argentina.
🔗 A major goal of BioINSouth is the establishment of 8 Regional Hubs, one of which will be based in Campania. The MARG will serve as the strategic committee for this hub, driving forward the region’s bioeconomic initiatives.
