Impact

  • The project aims to enhance understanding of sustainability challenges and the benefits of circular bio-based solutions in eight Southern-Mediterranean EU regions. This includes four regions in widening countries and three regions without existing bioeconomy strategies. The goal is to engage at least 200 stakeholders (15-30 per regional HUB), including representatives from the quadruple helix (QH) model, market operators, and civil society.
  • BioINSouth supports eight regions in Southern-Mediterranean EU countries to implement monitoring systems and assess the environmental impacts and circularity of bio-based systems. Additionally, at least seven more regions will be involved in replicating these efforts. The replication strategy includes updating stakeholders’ mapping and organizing at least three workshops to promote the uptake of BioINSouth outcomes and export the concept to other European regions, particularly in the Southern Mediterranean area.
  • Engage with over 100 regional policymakers and public authorities to foster collaboration and drive the adoption of innovative policies and practices.
  • Monitor and optimize bio-based activities that account for at least 60% of the total bio-based sector GDP at the regional HUB level. This initiative aims to ensure efficient resource use, enhance economic performance, and promote sustainable practices within the bio-based sector.
